Back Home in Caledon Cape Wrath

Have you ever found a place that feels so homey, so “perfect” that you never thought you would leave?  I did, and I moved away from it.  To my chagrin, I couldn’t make the new place “fit”.  Earlier this year, I sold my Cape Wrath waterfront parcel, and bought two parcels in Brigadoon.  How could one NOT feel special in a place like that?  I had the perfect view from my home on the hilltop, and another wonderful parcel for my bookstore.  Somehow tho, it didn’t feel right.  What I find really odd, is that in that alternate reality zone known as “real life”, my typist would have been at home in Brigadoon, and probably wouldn’t even venture into Cape Wrath.  It’s odd how I’ve taken on an entirely different persona in Second Life.

Recently, a friend alerted me that there were some parcels potentially available in Cape Wrath, including my old waterfront land.  I wasted no time in contacting Guv’nah Shang for clarification and to let him know of my interest in moving back.  Not only did I buy back my waterfront parcel, but I acquired two more parcels. My humble windswept cottage is back where it belongs on the water, where Mr Nitely and I shared wonderful conversations.

My Cape Wrath holdingsI now also own some of the land on the hill above my cottage. I’ve relocated my blue Victorian two-story home that I used in Brigadoon to the parcel above my cottage and am in the process of transforming it into The Braeholm boarding house.  To the left of that, I’ll be opening my “A Page in Time” vintage bookstore.

So much to do yet…but for now, I need to tuck my typist into bed.

Take care,                                                                                                      Brianna

How could I forget…?

I awoke this morning with that nagging feeling that today was a most special day, but I simply couldn’t remember why.  I decided a quick cuppa would revive my senses and made my way to my dining room. Feeling the chill of the morning air, I stoked the fire, then sat at my dining table, peering out my window into the horizon, savoring the magnificent view.  As I sat there, mindlessly fingering the delicate rim of my blue and white Wedgewood teacup, I couldn’t help but wonder what was so significant about today.  As I reached towards my serving tray to pour another cuppa, I glanced at my calendar. OH MY… I realized today was 1 September!

In a most unladylike motion, I bolted from my table and hastily donned fresh attire &  a good pair of boots; something fashionable and yet comfortable for walking.  Peering into my closet, I determined, that yes, there was room…room for all the goodies that I would soon be amassing. After one last sip of tea, I left my cottage and made my way to Mielville, where I will join so many other like me, hungry for today’s adventure, the long awaited STEAM: the Hunt! ‘5’

I’ll promise to check in with you later, but for now, I’m searching for posters and cogs and goodies, oh my!!

Hello world!

Welcome to my (first-ever) blog. Whew!  I’m coming upon my first year in SL, and I can’t believe all the changes I’ve gone through in that time. Like most, I started out as just your average homeless female, going from sim to sim, looking for that special place to call home.  Along the way, I’ve met some wonderful people who helped me with my transformation.  A special “thank you” goes to Scarlot Verrazzano, JMB Balogh, Korgi Lerwick, and my dearest Mr. John Nitely.

I recently exchanged my Mediterranean-style villa on the beach in Coco Falls for a smaller two room cottage on the water in Caledon Cape Wrath, and I couldn’t be happier.  Thank you, Guv’nah Shang for your patience in showing me available parcels in Caledon; and thank you to Mr. Danko Whitfield for having the perfect piece of property that I now call home.   I want to express my eternal appreciation to everyone for making me feel welcome.

While I do believe I’m  settled into my cottage {although we women are always “tweaking”},  my journey is just starting.  I’ve heard so many great things about Caledon {and all the Steamlands} that I  plan to be out and about as often as I can.  When I’m home,  please feel free to stop by for a cup of tea and a chat. I look forward to meeting you.

Till later,

{aka RedHeadedIrishGirl Brianna}
